Now you should be able to use the printer on your network. Select the dlxbrzi.inf file, then click on finish. Look for the downloaded driver folder and open the PCL folder in the win_x32 folder. Next, right click the printer you just added and select properties. (I tried the 3100cn PCL6 and PS, but neither worked.) Make sure not to print a test page since this is not the driver for the printer and will print a million pages of junk. It will appear to freeze, but it's just updating the list. Click on Windows Update and it should update the manufacturer list. Depending on your OS, there might not be any Dell printers. Just select "custom" and finish configuring the port. The next screen will probably say that it cannot find the device. Make sure you know the network address your printer is at and type it in. At that point, another window will open for a wizard to add a tcp/ip port. On the next screen, select "create a new port" and select "standard TCP/IP port" from the drop down menu. Select "Local printer attached to this computer and de-select "automatically detect and install.". ![]() You still need this download, but what I did was go to the printer/faxes folder and clicked on "Add a printer". When you download the printer drivers from the Dell website, there isn't a setup.exe or similar file that will guide you through the installation setup. If you're trying to install the printer when it's attached to the network, this is how I did it. I lost my installation cd as well and I just figured out the solution to this problem. ![]()
